Terms of service

You sign in with your email address. Anyone who can read that inbox can sign in as you, so keep it secure. An account is for one person. You can delete it at any time from the Library.

Today's story, its narration, the map of sites and the people pages are free. The full edition adds every past story and all the animated battle maps.

• The full edition costs $6.99 a month or $49.99 a year in the US. The price in your country, including any tax, is shown before you pay.
• New subscribers get the first 7 days free. If you don't cancel before the trial ends, your first payment is taken when it ends. One trial per person.
• Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each month or year, at the then-current price, until you cancel.
• To avoid the next charge, cancel at least 24 hours before your trial or current period ends. You keep the full edition until that period ends.
• Bought in the iPhone app: cancel in iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. Apple handles App Store billing and refunds.
• Bought on the website: cancel with the Manage subscription link in the Library. For a refund, email us.
• We don't give refunds for partly used periods, except where the law requires it.
• If we raise the price, we'll tell you before it applies to you, and you can cancel before it does.
• Deleting your account does not cancel your subscription. Cancel it first.

Stories and battle maps are drafted with AI tools from published sources, then reviewed by a person before they publish. They can still contain mistakes: wrong dates, simplified front lines, approximate positions and numbers. War Diary is a daily reading habit, not an academic reference. Check the sources listed with each story before relying on a detail, and tell us at support@worldwardiary.com when you find an error.

The stories describe war, including death and atrocity.

You may read, listen to and share links to War Diary for your own, non-commercial use. Don't copy or republish our stories, narration or maps in bulk, scrape the service, get around the paywall, or interfere with how the service runs.

The stories, narration, maps and design belong to us or the people who licensed them to us. Sources we cite, and sites we link to, belong to their owners.

You can stop using War Diary at any time. We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms. If we stop offering the full edition, we'll refund web subscribers for the unused part of their current period.

If you use the iPhone app, Apple's standard Licensed Application End User License Agreement also applies. These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple isn't responsible for the app or its support.

We provide War Diary as it is, without warranties of any kind, to the extent the law allows. We don't promise it will always be available or free of errors.

To the extent the law allows, we aren't liable for indirect or consequential losses, and our total liability to you is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under consumer law that can't be waived.

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes go to the state or federal courts in Los Angeles County, California, unless the law where you live gives you the right to bring them locally.

If we change these terms, we'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects your subscription, we'll tell you before it takes effect.
