What Does the Sony PlayStation Move Mean For the PS4?
In case you haven’t heard, Sony announced around March 11, 2010 at the Game Developers Conference that it was going to release a portable controller called Sony Move. The Sony Move is a motion-controlled video game controller that allows users to physically control movement on their television screen. As you guessed, this is a competitor to the Nintendo Wii. The Sony Move is expected to cost under $100, which is great considering today’s economy, and is set to have a fall 2010 release date.
The Sony Move is a hand-sized black wand with a white lighted ball on top. It also has an accessory controller that resembles the Nintendo Wii’s nun-chuck and should be used for the same purpose. Included with this package is something Sony has created called the PlayStation Eye Camera, this will allow on-screen characters to mimic users’ voices, abilities and movements. Along with the release of this package, Sony has over 20 Move-enabled games releasing around the same time, all made by top developers like EA Sports, Activision, and more.
So what does this mean for the PlayStation 4?
We don’t really know at this point… however it’s safe to say that with the rise in popularity of the PlayStation 3 (PS3) and the addition of the Sony Move, this current PS3 gaming console could last a while … We could venture to say that this means that the release date of the PlayStation 4 will be pushed back even further than the tentative date of 2012, but we don’t really know. No one does… all we can recommend at the moment is to buy the Sony Move and have fun using it on your PS3!
We’re hoping the PS4 will still release when we expect it to, though, and we can’t wait. Since this technology is added to the PS3, we don’t know what to expect from the PlayStation 4, in fact this new version may make us wonder even more what kind of features it will have!
