Consumer Reports recently released its near-term reliability forecast for sport utility vehicles. Predictions are based on the rarity of serious issues over the most recent 3 model years or less, depending on data availability. This article lists the Top 5 and Top 10 by predicted reliability of CR in each of the Small SUV, Midsize SUV, Luxury SUV and Large SUV categories.
The Top 5 small SUVs of 2011 by the predicted short-term reliability of CR are:
Honda CR-V
Toyota RAV4 V6
Mitsubishi Outlander
Toyota RAV4 4 cylinder
Subaru Forester without turbo.
The Honda CR-V and 4-cylinder RAV4 also have an excellent long-term reliability record in 2010. Therefore, as one moves down this list, the longer-term reliability seems to improve with the predicted short-term reliability.
